Self-care is essential to navigate a divorce and recover from its effects. Divorce is one of the most stressful events someone can experience. Consequently, divorce can debilitate someone's mental and physical health. That is why self-care is a must.
Here are some ways you can practice self-care during a divorce:
Take a break: Divorce is a transitional period that can be a chance to break from your normal routine.
Exercise, eat well, and relax: Take time out to be good to yourself and your body.
Avoid isolation: Isolating yourself can increase stress levels and reduce concentration.
Don't use substances: Avoid using alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes to cope, as they can lead to more problems.
Practice meditation: Meditation can be a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual activity.
Do random acts of kindness: These can be uplifting, such as filling someone's parking meter or writing a nice note.
Volunteer: Volunteering can make you feel good, such as knitting caps or making quilts for a local cancer center
